Malaria Communication Strategy for Somalia, 2006-2010

This strategy is designed to provide a framework for guiding implementing partners toward a well coordinated and sustained communication campaign for malaria prevention and control in Somalia.

In implementing the strategy, the ultimate aim is to bring about community involvement and participation as far as malaria prevention, treatment and control is concerned. The participation of communities in malaria control is considered important if the fight against malaria is to be won. This strategy emphasizes the importance of Health Authorities, INGOs, NGOs and CBOs in recognizing that the action taken by the communities at the individual and household level is the solution to the wider malaria problem in the country.

Sections include: baseline information, purpose of the strategy, strategic approaches, communication strategies at different levels, coordination structure, and monitoring and evaluation.
