Population, Health, and Environment Basics

In this course one canl explore the ways in which population, health, and the environment interact in people’s lives, and have the opportunity to gain an insider’s view of 1) the basics of integrated PHE programming, 2) successful PHE programs from around the world, and 3) tools and resources that can help you develop integrated programs.

At the end of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Articulate linkages among PHE issues
  • Identify the historical precursors of PHE programs
  • Recall the defining characteristics of PHE programs worldwide and provide examples of the kinds of interventions associated with them
  • List the benefits that can result from implementing PHE interventions in an integrated fashion
  • Indicate the ways in which community participation is a central component of PHE program design and implementation, and outline various models of community involvement in PHE projects
  • Name some of the current challenges and future directions of PHE programming
  • Access and utilize various PHE tools and resources
